Women Laughing
We’re here to help women and girls improve their mental health and emotional wellbeing and offer a range of services to do this. It’s important to know that most of our services are delivered at one of our Centres in Gateshead or Byker and most of our services are delivered in groups. If you would like to access our support, please complete one of our Online Referral Forms Here.

We accept referrals from any source so you can refer yourself or another professional who might be supporting you can make the referral for you. Whether a self-referral or a third party referral into our services, it is important that you understand our Referral, Welcome & Needs Assessment process so that we can support women as quickly as possible, and so that women can decide if our services are the best place for them.

It is important to know that whichever one of our services women would like to access, the Referral, Welcome and Needs Assessment process is the same.

  • Make an Online Referral : If you have difficulty using online forms, please call us and we can complete this over the telephone. Referral Forms MUST be fully completed. We will not accept incomplete Referral Forms.

If a third party is making the referral it is important that they get the consent of the woman to do so, and that the woman understands the type of services we offer.
  • Once we’ve received your referral we’ll get in touch to arrange for you to come to one of our Welcome Sessions. These run every 2 weeks at our Centres. At the Welcome Session, we’ll tell you about the different services we offer so you can decide if our services are right for you. You don’t need to share any information at the Welcome Session with other women, and you’re welcome to ask questions. We will ask you to complete a registration form which includes a set of questions such as emergency contact details, mental health and social needs, and diversity monitoring information. We collect this information to help us better understand the communities of women we work with and to help us identify any barriers to accessing our services for some groups of women. Staff will be able to support you with this. We’ll give you a Service User Handbook and a copy of our Open Access Timetable so you can start thinking about the services that might be useful for you.

In exceptional circumstances if you are unable to attend a Welcome Session, we can email or post details about services and the required forms for completion, or send a link via Survey Monkey for these to be completed online. We would encourage you to attend Welcome Sessions so that you have a chance to meet staff, ask questions, see the Centres, and are therefore more able to make an informed choice about whether our services will meet your needs or not.
  • After the Welcome Session, we will invite you to attend a one to one ‘Understanding your Needs’ appointment with a Mental Health and Wellbeing Worker. We usually offer these over the telephone, but we can offer a face to face appointment if that is preferred. This appointment is an opportunity to discuss your mental health needs in more detail, we’ll remind you about the Open Access Services that might be helpful for you, and you can start attending these. We’ll add you to our waiting lists for mental health courses and support groups.
